Pre-Trial is being held regarding the defamation lawsuit filed by Gary McHale against Sachem newspaper because they published a Letter to the Editor that claim residents and McHale were shouting 'White Power' at the Dec. 1, 2007 protests.

What's the latest news on this law suit?

What did the Torstar lawyers have to say on behalf of the Sachem?

Will the letter writer be called to appear to give her testimony as to what she said she heard?

Did the judge dismiss the case or set a date for trial?

Are you going it alone like last time or is Mr. Finlay going to be there to keep the process from sinking into political theatre?

It is illegal to speak about anything in pre-trail... however; Sachem did have the date changed to May 14.

Regarding letter writer... I will not be calling her as a witness and I doubt the Sachem will either since they already admitted her statements were false.

Not sure where you get the idea that a Judge can dismiss the case... No judge can do that without a trail.

Small Claim doesn't require a Lawyer therefore I will be doing it alone... besides I do not have to prove anything... they have to prove the statements were not defamatory. The burden of proof is on them in a defamation case.

Unfortunately the general public is retarted.  Grade school students are more aware of media and the lies they can portay as solid reporting.  If residents and Canadfians had half a brain and could think things through, they would recognize the invaluable work Merlin Kinrade,Gary McHale, Mark Vandermaas , 'Numberswatchdog' author, (forgot her name, sorry),Jeff Parkinson and many others are doing in the name of justice and truth.  The court cases Gary is bringing to the fore are going to open eyes for many. 
You want to help?  Toss $50 his way to help keep the truth and possible justice in our future.  Without him, we are done.  You need not get involved and can hide in your basements, just help someone else fight for you, give something.
